Two-Color Offset Press
V- Shaped Five-Cylinder System The five-cylinder system consists of a
double-diameter impression cylinder and two sets of plate cylinder plus blanket cylinder. This system
simplifies the two-color printing mechanism while maintaining the machinešs compactness. As the
two-color image is reproduced by two
independent blanket cylinders, high-quality printing is maintained over long runs of duotone printing or
two-color overlaid solid printing. Flawless two-color registration is possible because the two
colors are printed in one gripper bite of the impression cylinder. The double-diameter
impression cylinder allows excellent accessibility to all sections, leading to high productivity
over a wide range of multicolor printing jobs.
Wide Printing Area
The maximum printing area, 330 x 438mm (13 x 17 1/4"), is the widest in this class of offset
press. Multicolor register marks and color control patches can be printed outside the finished
size even when handling full A3-size or 13 x l7" bleed jobs.
Large Inking Capacity on Both Inking Units
Each inking unit comprises 16 rollers, including three form rollers of different diameters and
three oscillating rollers. Large inking capacity coupled with the three form rollers ensures
uniform ink coverage regardless of the image layout. As the first and the second inking units
have identical mechanisms, equally superb printing quality is provided by each.
Efficient Color Change
The ink fountains are open/close type for quick cleaning. The lever-controlled ink roller
cleaning devices can be set at a fixed angle, and the ink rollers of both units can be cleaned at
the same time. These features enable quick and easy color changes that enhance productivity
of multicolor short runs.
Dampening System
A molleton dampening system eliminates concerns over environmental conditions or ink type.
Printing with gold ink or silver ink is also easily done with this system. Daily adjustment of the
dampening form roller pressure is easy and requires no tools.
Reliable Paper Feed and Registration
Thirteen suction feet plus side blowers to the front and sides of the paper pile maintain
accurate paper feeding at low to high speeds with onion skin to 0.3mm thick paper.
(Should
double sheeting occur, such sheets will be ejected to a special tray without stopping the
printing process.) The push side lay on the feeder board and double-sprung grippers of the
feed drum guarantee the registration accuracy and reliability required for multicolor printing.
A Delivery Mechanism that Meets the Need for Speed and Quality
The delivery mechanism is designed to accommodate the Ryobi 3302M's top quality printing
at high speeds. The mechanism includes a roller-type rotary guide and a powder spray unit to
prevent markoff on sheets, while an air blower and side jogger ensure neat sheet piling. A
capacitance sensor monitors the pile height and automatically lowers the delivery table for
accurate paper piling.
Quick and Precise Plate Positioning for Efficient Two-Color Printing
A straight edge clamp with plate positioning pins and a quick-clamping system enable fast and
accurate plate mounting. Accuracy is further improved by clamp scales and reference line on
the cylinder, while a register punch and a register marking device enhance image positioning
accuracy during platemaking. This efficient register system drastically reduces the time
required for two-color registration.
Impression Cylinder Grippers for Perfect Two-Color Registration
Doublesprung grippers have been adopted for the impression cylinder gripper to ensure strong
and even sheet grip during two-color printing. Durability and reliability at high speeds are
inherent features of this type of gripper. The gripping strength of individual grippers can be
adjusted easily and accurately.
Solid Printing Pressure for Excellent Print Quality
When the cylinders are engaged, the blanket cylinder moves towards the stationary plate
cylinder as well as towards the stationary impression cylinder by means of a double eccentric
bushing. This system stabilizes printing pressures and produces a crisp printed image. Plate
and impression pressures are adjusted by dial knobs which can be simply set to the thickness
of plate and paper. If the paper feed is interrupted, the blanket cylinder immediately
disengages from the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder to maintain uniform ink density
for the sheets that follow.
Single Lever Control
Dampening, inking, and image transfer to the blankets of the two printing units can be
simultaneously controlled by a single lever which also feeds paper to initiate printing. Pressing
a single button allows selection of two-color or single-color print mode. When the preset
number of sheets have been printed, the lever automatically returns to its initial position and the
machine stops.
Dial Type Image Position Adjustment
Dial type image positioning devices are incorporated to enable quick and easy fine adjustment
of the push side lay and vertical and lateral positioning of images. Blanket cleaning is not
required after vertical image adjustment, further reducing loss time.
Pre-Pile Mechanism for Efficient Long Runs
A prepile mechanism allows sheets to be piled on the lower table while the upper table is
feeding paper.
Centralized Lubrication
A pull of the oil pump lever lubricates all major rotating parts and bearings. This simplifies
daily maintenance and ensures that your equipment is always lubricated for maximum
performance and longevity.
Centralized Control Panel
The centralized control panel allows the operator to control all operations from a single
location via buttons and switches that are carefully arranged for operator convenience. The O.K. monitor indicates the location of paperfeed trouble and activation of safety devices, and
informs the operator when periodic maintenance is required.
Microcomputer Control of Press Operations
A microcomputer allows pushbutton control of all press operations, including inching, print
speed preset and adjustment, and paper feed. In addition, the microcomputer stops the plate
cylinder at a predetermined position for easy plate mounting and removing. It also enables
crawl speed operation to facilitate setting up the feeder and delivery sections.
Centralized CPU Control with Self-Diagnosis Function
The CPU provides easy inspection of electronic circuits with the aid of a built-in self-diagnosis
function. Incorporated in the microcomputer, the self-diagnosis circuit monitors the operating
condition of various systems in the press for quick maintenance and rapid service.
Ruggedly Built for Extended Durability
The surfaces of all five cylinders are coated with hard chrome for enhanced resistance to ink
and chemical corrosion, and they are highly hydrophilic for easy cleaning. A sturdy
single-piece cast iron frame minimizes vibration at high speeds to maintain machine precision
and enhance durability. An inverter controls printing speed, eliminating the need for a
mechanical speed control mechanism.
Static Eliminator
This device ensures smooth paper feed, especially for onion skin, by removing the static
electricity that is often generated in dry air.
Many Extras, Delivered as Standard Equipment
The register punch RP22, static eliminator, spray powder device, straight edge plate
clamp,
and delivery light are all included as standard equipment to assure printing quality and efficient
operation.
Safety Assurance Features
When Ryobi sets about designing printing equipment, the operatoršs safety is the first
consideration. Safety covers or bars are provided over all rotating parts and cylinders so that
plate change and cylinder cleaning can be executed safely.
PhotoSensors to Monitor Sheet Travel
Sheet travel is always monitored by four photosensors located along the sheet path. In case of
trouble with a traveling sheet, activation of the safety devices stops the machine
immediately,
and the trouble area is displayed on the O.K. Monitor.
Register Marking Device
For quick and precise two-color registration, we developed the register marking device. Used
to mark reference lines on the plate for precise plate burning and for exact plate mounting on
the cylinder, this device drastically reduces the time required for precise two-color registration
on the press.
Blanket Cleaning Devices
After the preset number of copies have been printed, the blankets on both units are
automatically cleaned. This is very effective especially for short run work. The devices are
easily mounted and require minimal maintenance.
Tape Inserter
A strip of tape is automatically inserted each time a preset number of copies have been printed
to separate one batch of sheets from the next. This device eliminates the dividing work after
the printing operation. The preset number can be any number up to 999.
